FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I want your session to go as smoothly as possible, and to do that, it’s my job to educate you on what to expect.

Please check out these FAQs prior to our session!

I am a lifestyle family photographer. I love learning, so when I am not working or playing with my 8 year and 3 year old, you can find me, you can find me pouring over photography resources online. I like to research and plan as much as I can ahead of time so that the session itself can go as smoothly as possible. All of the work done on the front end allows me to be more laid back during the actual photo session. I love interacting with my families and capturing the unique personalities of everyone involved. My work has been described as organic, real, and sentimental. I combine traditional with lifestyle photography to capture genuine images for you. Imagine your family as art. As your photographer, I will provide a generous gallery of images that you can choose from. These photographs will be an investment in your family history. Images from your session often tell a story, capturing a treasured moment in time. I do not try to make you look perfect, stiff, or unnatural. I am not after that “one” shot with everyone looking at the camera and smiling. Sure, I may get some with everyone looking and smiling, but I promise if I do, it will not feel stiff or forced.

I am a natural light, on location photographer.  Together we will choose the perfect location for your session.  Newborn sessions are held at your home.

Most sessions are typically about two hours long. Some may be a little shorter, some may be a little longer. Every family is different and sometimes it takes longer than others to capture the images we need. I never want to create a stressful experience, lets be a little laid back and not rushed up.

I photograph families throughout Singapore (I am based in the East Coast), and have favourite locations for my shoots depending on the age of your children. Favourite spots for family portraits include the ever-popular Botanical Gardens, Gardens by the Bay East side with the city scape view, East Coast Park all of which I know really well! I also regularly photograph clients in various private homes and gardens.

I like to do newborn sessions within the first month of life in the house, however my style allows for some flexibility in scheduling.

I almost didn’t include this question because working with children I completely understand that they may be unwell – it’s no problem at all to reschedule.

Considering the weather of Singapore it can rain any day. So if it’s a rainy day I am more than happy to re-schedule! I tend to be aware of what the weather forecast is at all times, so will inform you a few hours in advance of your photoshoot if I think we may need to postpone. If it’s not that bad a day

we will go ahead as planned. You would be surprised at how beautifully soft the light is on overcast days, which can make  for really gorgeous photographs.

Whatever makes you feel comfortable! Seriously! You don’t want to be worried about the details of your outfit; you want to be focused on making memories with your family. Once you book with me I will send you a complete Style Guide followed by a video consultation to help you look your best on the big day.

In a word, yes. Whilst the emotion and connection I like to capture in family photographs is very natural and real, I know that most women would prefer not to see every pore on their face in all its glory! I sensitively retouch skin and blemishes with a very light hand with the aim that you won’t even know when you see the images. It’s also worth bearing in mind that I never photograph my subjects with direct light on their faces and instead seek out soft, luminous light so that minimal skin retouching is needed.

I look carefully at each and every image I capture at your session and hand select the best images. I am looking for images that represent me as an artist and your family, as each is radically unique. I will showcase close to 30-40 pictures in a gallery and guarantee minimum of 15 images, in colour and black and white variations.

I take huge pride in my work and will only give you beautifully edited, finished photographs that look their very best. For that reason the RAW, unedited images are not available for purchase or otherwise, simply because they are only “half-baked” and not the finished product the way I envision it to be. Only I know how the images are designed to look – and my editing process is as much a part of my artistic skill as the way I take the photograph.
